About the artist

Elsa Holten

I've always been a very creative person, brimming with ideas. For as long as I can remember, I've always had a project going, whether it has been writing a book, sewing, drawing, working with graphic design or rearranging my room or apartment. The need for creative expression is, and has always been, an essential part of who I am.

My adventure with acrylics began as a side project during my studies, a creative escape that balanced the academic rigor. After completing my master's at the Norwegian School of Economics in 2019 and stepping into my first job, I finally had the means to elevate my art with quality materials and larger canvases. When my Instagram account was created a year later to share my art with friends and family, it sparked a new hint of hope and a dream when people I didn’t know started to reach out to buy my art.

Early in 2022, two years of stark contrasts began. While I had just met the love of my life, I also underwent surgery for endometriosis and faced tough personal decisions that evoked a lot of anxiety. The beauty is that these tough times forces you to figure out what you truly love in life and what makes you want to get out of bed in the morning. For me, the need to create and have a beautiful, safe home with art that makes you dream and feel something is deeply ingrained in me. And if, through my art, I can evoke these feelings in others as well, then that must be the most beautiful thing of all.
